A lovely day had today, the morning was spent photographing Restormel Castle (well the stones that are left), afternoon at work then a lovely stroll around Mevagissey. Oh and lots of photos taken - which I haven't done for awhile - other than my photo a day.

107/365 - Two parish councillors have been spray painting these signs along the pavement on a certain road in the village, the council come behind them and clean them off as they do not have permission to put them there!!!!  What a waste of resources but so typical of Cornwall Council.

 

108/365 - Went to the Eden Project on Friday with a friend, unfortunately we had missed the best of the tulips they were going over but this little beauty caught my eye.

 

109/365 - Saturday morning on the way to a call.  This particular visit you have to go up a private road and this was the view half way up.

Musical Memories - Day 3

This takes me back to my college days at Stamford College for FE as it was known then.  My time was happier then, but I still felt like I didn't fit in especially when I decided on the career I wanted and the careers officer (who remembers them???) laughed at me and said stick with your job at Boots - that is what girls like you do!!!  As you are aware.....I didn't take his advice.  Unusual for me back then as I just went with the flow and did as I was told, but thanks to my mum that was the first step in following a dream.

 

 

This is the extended version but oh soooo good to hear it again.  I still have my clear vinyl 45 single of this tucked away in the loft.  Hope you like it. Right I now need to come back to 2013 and get the hoover out..................boring!!

After work on Monday I met up with Yvonne for lunch over at Griggs, which is a local farm supplier and they have just opened up a restaurant which is very nice.

Today

103/365 - Devoran - hard to believe that when I went to work this morning at 8am it was blowing a hooley, pouring with rain and grey skies.  By 1pm when I set off for my walk the sky was blue and stayed like that for the rest of the day.

 

Headed over to the Bissoe Trail again today for a twelve mile walk.  Not only was I eager to see if the leg would hold out for the distance but I also wanted to try 'Runkeeper' an app I had downloaded onto my phone to work out the distance, time etc I was walking.  It was fantastic, every five minutes it updated me with the time, distance, mins per mile and showed calories and average distances.  Really pleased with it. This was a view on the walk, just prior to taking this a rather nice looking fit young man had run passed us, unfortunately I was too slow and didn't get him in the photo, or maybe he had speeded up having seen us from the front lol.  Maybe he was thinking 1664 - 16 from behind, 64 from the front!!

 

Both these photos were taken with my phone, which I am starting to use more often on walks.

 

Oh car update, obviously didn't have my name on it.  Mick spoke to the chap again today and double checked it all and the chap agreed to keep it as he was travelling up so far.  Then Mick did a hp check on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  OOps looks like a slight false description, it is marked as a class D which apparently means it has been seriously damaged and re built - minor detail!!!!!  Fifteen pound well spent on the check me thinks.  Hey ho, back to the drawing board.

POTD & Car Update

 

102/365 - Comebellacks Scrapyard, Roche, we had to pop into the scrapyard again and this lorry with it's squashed load was waiting to go out,

 

This afternoon we went out car hunting again. Whilst I was at work Mick spent the morning surfing for a suitable car with no luck.  As I had mentioned before I just want something small that is economical because of the travelling I do and something that is a bit of fun.  I don't need or want speed or anything fancy - just four wheels with a body on top.  Anyway we had talked about a C4 or C3 then the C2 and then the C1.  So I suggested we went over to the Citroen garage and have a look at the different models and maybe a test drive.  Well much to my surprise and Mick's he was very impressed with the C1, we had a test drive and I have fallen in love.  We drove the 5 door version and it went really well with three of us in it - bearing in mind normally it will only be me in the car on my tod!   So we then came home, Mick started his search again and hey ho he has found one just like this one below but in blue my favourite colour !!! 

 

I cannot believe how excited I am, me who couldn't care less about cars. The only problem is the car is in Heathrow........... which is approx. 3.75 hrs away from us, so it looks like Mick and his brother (I'm working)  will be having a day out on Monday and hopefully fingers crossed I will have a new toy on Monday.

 

Mick is now muttering that it will probably be gone by Monday, so in my true style I have said, (as I always say and drive the family mad with), "que sera sera", if it has my name on it, then it will be there, if not then there is something better out there with my name on" So hope it has my name on.

Out walking

Well I was out this morning nice and early, I drove over to Devoran to walk part of the Bissoe Trail (mainly because it is mostly flat, unlike where I live!) and it was lovely, hardly saw a soul, just me and the birds - wonderful.  The leg held out well and has been fine since I got home, so I am very happy with that. At long last I have started to decorate my bra for the walk, I really can't put it off any longer, still not sure what I am going to be doing, design isn't my field of expertise (not sure if I have such a field to be honest lol)  So far I have put glitter glue on with the idea that they look like meterorites!!!  I have some glow in the dark stars and buttons to go on yet oh and ribbon - so watch this space.  Really starting to get excited about this now :)   Just check my sponsor pledges for the walk and to date it is £512.40, so chuffed, that is my second target passed :)   There is still time to sponsor me if any one wishes to, just click here  http://www.walkthewalkfundraising.org/karen_butfield

96/365 - Paying to enter Plymouth, another trip up there but this time I did come back with a new bike jacket.  Not so lucky with the trousers, having tried on several pairs I gave up with exhaustion, which sounds really silly unless you have tried on biking clothing with armour padding in it.  It weights a tonne and is so awkward to get on and off to say the least.

 

97/365 - My poorly car, after it's bump the other week we have decided it is time for it to go. Mick will replace the bumper and then it will go off to the auction. :(  It is abit old and has done me well, considering the mileage I put on a car in a week - anything between one and over three hundred miles a week. By the time the hire car goes back on Friday I will nearly be up to 1000 since the 26th March!!!!

Personally I don't really mind what I have so long as it is comfy, gets me from A to B and fairly economical, oh and Mick can do the maintenance and repairs on it :) but unfortunately more and more cars are being made today that require special tools to do simple maintenance jobs on them therefore once again doing away with people skills.  It won't be long before all the skills that people have learnt over the years will be lost forever, either because they aren't needed any more or machines do it.  I feel we are heading into a very lazy society that is turning us into unskilled and unthinking humans who rely on technology and machines!!!   Ok I'm off my soap box :)
