26 wk challenge + monthly photo

Still playing catch up on here and in real life to be honest.  Having spent five days sat in a class room learning about 'strokes' - which I have to say has been absolutely brilliant and extremely interesting but at the same time totally exhausting.  I am just not use to having to focus on anything for any length of time.  Thankfully I was not alone, all ten of us felt the same, even the instructors agreed it is an awful lot of information to take in over the course of a week.  Next week we are on the ward so hopefully be able to see it all being put into practice and put it into practice ourselves.  I think this is the first part of our transfer to the private sector - rumour has it that we will become part of the Early Discharge Support Team - which I can only view as a positive and exciting change (no point viewing it any other way as it is going to happen so may as well be positive about it - makes life much easier!)

Anyway I digress - a quick walk down the beach yesterday provided me with these photos for the latest challenge.  Not very exciting, all taken with my compact so it was pot luck generally as all I could see in the back screen was me!!  (why I hate using a compact!)

Getting ready for a sprint across the beach.

                                                                    Taking a breather.

Just lying back and enjoying the sun.

Have to say the second is my favourite, just love the wind in the dog's coat.

The next two weeks the theme is faces.

MONTHLY PHOTO

Running late on this as well, I took it the day we went away which was the 11th July,

Monthly photo

Posting this one a few days late but hey ho, who is checking up on me??  Here is May's monthly photo of the trees in Tresillian,  gradually greening up nicely.  This was taken a couple of days late on Sunday 13th at 7.15am on the way to work.

Once again set this to publish yesterday but blogger failed me again - any tips on scheduled posts would be very welcome.

I'm back online

Well what a week, our internet connection went down Wed morning and it has taken several phone calls and eight days before they could sort it out!!!!  Was not a happy teddy.

So I am on big catch up time with various posts so here is the first of the day my new monthly photo, there is a sky in there but it was a very 'white sky day'.  September's images can be seen here
Yvonne is joining in with me on this photo journey, you can see her photos here

As you can see I have decided to go with the two this time round and the green has definitely gone.

Monthly photo overview

Two posts in one evening - must be on a roll!!  Here are the images taken over the last 12 months (started Oct 10 top left to right.) altogether.  I will confess to mislaying Aug 11 image - sure I took it but can't find it anywhere so I have slipped one from Sept last yr in it's place as it looked daft with a gap in the bottom.

Doesn't seem to be a great change between April and June (third row down).  Still I have enjoyed it and I will continue with my new location.

Monthly view

A few days late due to blogger playing up by not allowing me post anything lately, but here is the view for August taken in the morning. Will post the one from Australia when I get it.

I'm back!

I am back after my "delicious cruise" (as Kathi calls it :) ) two weeks on the Braemar sailing around the Med is very good for the soul and I can fully recommend it.  Thankfully the dull and damp weather that has greeted us upon our return is NOT dampening my spirit - lots going on but will tell you all that later.  First I need to catch up big time on my monthly and weekly images.  First with the monthly image from July.  Will post the Australian image when I get it.

As you can see not a very exciting sky, this one was taken from a different angle to previous ones and the sun is just going down behind the trees, hence the colour of the thistles in the field.

I have three weeks worth of weekly photos to upload as well they are wildlife, low light and urban.  It may not come as a suprprise but I shall be using some holiday snaps for those weeks.

This week's theme is indoor photography using natural light or low light participants own interpretation.

Just received my cousin's April image from Australia.

Really starting to look dry now.  Here are previous images.  I have decided put the images together in a collage so that the changes can be seen easier.

Monthly view

Well here we are half way through another month and this is what my 'back yard' looks like today.  Starting to green up nicely and the blackthorn is blossoming down the bottom of the field on the left as well.  Though very heavy clouds today.

Although you have seen my monthly images the Australian ones have been missing - until today that is and here they are three months in a row, which really shows the changes over there.

March's monthly image.

Here is this month image of my "backyard"

It is starting to green up again.  It is lovely to see all the bunnies running around in the morning they look like they are having so much fun.  Prior to me taking this photo on Thurs there were three foxes wandering around as well - I wasn't awake enough to catch them - must try harder.

February's photo

Well here is 'my backyard' photo for February, doesn't look much different to the last few months, dull, wet, and not very exciting, but I'm sure if I was to look very closely there would be plenty signs of spring out there.  It was taken around 8am yesterday, just as well as the heaven's opened not long after and stayed like that nearly all day!

January's photo

Well here is Januay's photo of my back yard - that sounds so good, wish it was mine. The rain did stop for a while and the light looked lovely, so I popped out and took this one.

And as I promised some more seal photos from yesterday's walk,  here are a couple.

Still haven't looked up what kind they are, so if anyone reading this does know would you mind leaving me a comment and telling me :)  Thank you.

First post...

Already the second day of the year - I had hope to post yesterday and think about my plans for 2011 as it was we had a birthday party here for Mick's mum and I never got near the computer, it was a fantastic day, the whole family was here for her and she was in her element, she went home with a huge smile on her face which is what we had hope to achieve and we did.

I realised this morning that I hadn't posted my image for Dec last month so here it is alittle late.

Normally I am itching to take all the decorations down and get back to normal, but I'm just not in a rush this year, maybe it is because it has been such a busy period, though very enjoyable or maybe because I know there are going to be some changes this new year and I'm putting off the start of them, or maybe I just don't want life to go back to normal!  Who knows.

End of another month.

Well here we are at the end of November where did the last 28 days go?  Christmas will have come and gone before we know it.

So images for this week's challenge....mmmmm..... using the moon as a light source, love doing this but failed miserably on this occasion.  Out Monday night, Tuesday night, cloudy and no sign of the moon Wed when I was around, out Thurs and Friday night .... week gone and so has the full moon!!!  Though all is not lost as Louise did manage to get a couple of great images which can be seen here  personally I have never managed to capture an image of the moon with any sort of surface texture - just a shiny blob!!  So well done Louise.  Roll on the next full moon and we shall revisit this one I think.

Our challenge for this week is buildings, concentrating on composition and exposure.

It is also time for my monthly photo, one of my back yard and one of my cousin's in Adelaide.  We are taking 12 photos of the same images over the next 12 months.  Here is the first month from Adelaide and my first image .  Here are November's images.

                                          Adelaide
The grass is turning brown now and the water level dropping.

                                          Cornwall
The trees are looking so bare now and very wishy washy.

Project

The other week a lady came to camera club to give a talk about her work as an art teacher, the way she uses photography and how the subjects cross over and interact.  During her talk she told us how she had started taking a photo of a tree at Derriford hosp each month to see the changes.  She now swaps that photo with a research worker in the artic.  I really liked this idea and fancied having a go.  So a quick email to my cousin's daughter in Australia and we are set up to do a photo a month of our chosen place for a year starting this month.  It would appear we are both as bad as each other in trying to decide on a location, I have chosen many and photographed them - then at the final hour as I was about to click send with the first photo I changed my mind again and settled for the view that greets me every morning and one that I see the changes but don't appreciate them fully.  So here is my first of twelve images of my chosen view - My back yard!

It wasn't the best morning and it is sooc as that is what I want for this project - just as it is/was at the time of taking.  The picture below is the same scene (slightly different angle) taken a couple of hours earlier before I changed my mind!!
