Grey Seals

I had heard a rumour that the grey seals were coming into Towan Beach again, I haven't been there for a few years, so after work today I dragged Mick with me (well he came to ensure I stayed upright in the mud after my latest tumble!!) and I wasn't disappointed with what I saw, 18 altogether now :) I didn't take my tripod as I thought it would be too windy to get any shots, but it wasn't too bad!! typical, so I shall be heading back during the week with tripod.  Still here are the best of what I got.

Had a stroll around St Mawes this morning as well during a gap at work - to add to my telephone boxes collection, photos from that can be seen here. xx

Weekly photo

Surprise surprise I failed again with this week's photo challenge. Glad to add that so did Louise, so I don't feel so bad now :).  We were doing 'deliberate blur' and I just never got there.  Admittedly I have taken lots of photos this week, but didn't think about trying to make them blurry.  Well the birthday's are over for another year, both Bernadette and Mick are happy and a year older.  Having managed to get through the week without spilling the beans re Mick's surprise party last night I have decided never to do that again, and don't recommend it, especially if you are use to discussing everything with your other half.  Thankfully due to fantastic daughters, friends and in laws we managed to keep it from him and even when everyone arrived here he still wasn't sure what was happening  'lol'.  Still a good night was had by all.

Went for a lovely walk along the coast path from Hell's Mouth to Godrevy Lighthouse on Sat, here are some of the images I took.

looking towards Hell's Mouth and Portreath in the distance.

Godrevy Lighthouse - like so many these days not manned any more,

and the last one, this was the sight that greeted us when we peered over the cliff,

more seals, though they look dead they are definitely alive and beautiful.

January's photo

Well here is Januay's photo of my back yard - that sounds so good, wish it was mine. The rain did stop for a while and the light looked lovely, so I popped out and took this one.

And as I promised some more seal photos from yesterday's walk,  here are a couple.

Still haven't looked up what kind they are, so if anyone reading this does know would you mind leaving me a comment and telling me :)  Thank you.

If you go down to the beach today....

.... we certainly had a wonderful surprise.  During the week a friend told me about some seals on a beach that she had seen.  So this afternoon armed with camera, tripod and big lens Mick & I set off to see if we could see anything.  Here is a sample of what we found,

These were just two that were in the water, we spotted five in the water and nine lying on the beach.  Considering I was on the top of the cliff, the wind blowing a hooly and they were around 400-500ft away I am rather pleased with the images.  I have more of those on the beach but will upload those tomorrow.
I have to admit to knowing very little about seals - apart from them being very big when they pop up in the water beside you, not being the most confident of swimmers in the sea, it frightened the living daylights out of me when one did a few years back.  I think these are male though I am not really sure. Personally I love the colouring on the middle photo and can't wait to go back and get some more images and hopefully see this one out of the water.
