Cupcakes .. mmmm

I asked one of our mums at work who is a wonderful cake maker to make me some christmas cupcakes and this is what she came up with.

My intention was to photograph them for Christmas cards - but the photos haven't turned out quite as I envisaged!! So we are eating them instead and they are gorgeous so all is not lost.

This should make you laugh, I ordered a new lens on Sunday and it still hasn't arrived, I rang up yesterday after work to ask where is it and was told you should of had it on Wed!  So he made a phone call and rung back and said it will be with you by 6pm tonight (last night) ...... nothing.  This morning Mick presents me with a parcel saying there you go, so really excited I rip it open to be faced with a bag of brown cement dye!!!!!!!    Still no lens and I so wanted to take it to St Ives with me today and to make it worse the company are not answering their phone now ...  grrrr .... but I'm cool about it .... NOT!

Holiday Time

The summer holidays have arrived at last.  The end of term was so busy I didn't know if I was coming or going or loosing the plot completely!  What I do know though, is that I have had the pleasure of working with an amazing set of parents over the last two years who have always shown their support and appreciation openly to the staff, but none of us were prepared for the show of affection and kindness that we received at the end of term last week they left us speechless.  We were flooded with gifts galore.  I have photographed them all to do a LO, but I have to show you one particular one which I thought was such a wonderful idea, it is a plant pot of cup cakes.

Oh have to show you this one as well, yet another that reduced me to tears when I received it.

So five weeks now of doing what I want to a certain degree.  My nephew will be spending a week with us, he has never been to Cornwall before and has left the entertainment arrangements to us!!!!! he may regret that by the end of the week.  The girls have planned a couple of days teaching him to surf, Mick is taking him sea fishing as for my plans for him....well we shall have to wait and see. 
I have decided to have a stall at the Heavy Horse Show on the 8th August which is held here in Tregony.  So I am trying to ensure I have enough cards and prints available for that as well as the Grampound Carnival which takes place on the 5th September, so all go for the camera over the next few weeks.

What a week...

It has been none stop and very enjoyable.  Started off Monday evening going to see Calender Girls with a lovely group of friends, good food, good company and a great performance. Tuesday was my birthday meal with family, another lovely evening, more lovely food, good conversation and the bit that really blew me away was the cake that Bernadette made for me, it was a replica of my camera and it was brilliant (have to use past tense as we have eaten it all!!!)  Here are the pics.

Looking at the pics now I'm still amazed by it.  When I saw all the black food colouring and icing I did wonder what she was up to but by the time I got home Mon evening there wasn't a trace of anything (and I did look!!) never thought I was going to get this.  I was thrilled to say the least.  Thank you Bernadette.

Wed was college as usually, feel like I am getting to grips with a tiny bit of photoshop.  Thursday night out for an Indian with a another group of friends, very enjoyable again.  Two nights off then Sunday off to Birmingham to see Westlife in concert......phew, I shall need next week to recover.  Oh and in between all that it has been a hectic week at work as well!
