Christmas Eve & Christmas Day

Normally on Christmas Eve we go down to Mousehole to see the lights and then have Fish and Chips at the best chippy in the West but this year I was working until 5.15pm and B was spending part of the evening with her bf and his mum, so we decided to eat at home then go for a stroll round Mevagissey and have a drink.  Initially I was going to take the camera for some evening shots but then decided not to, due to it being rather windy and not wishing to bore the family too much ....... after all it was Christmas Eve!!  So a quick shot with my compact and off to the pub for a drink - though not for me as I have been on antibiotics since Wednesday for a gum abscess and no alcohol allowed. It has been very dry to say the least -  for me anyway lol!!

Christmas Day I dragged everyone out for a very blustery walk around The Nare - it was actually very enjoyable.  Rather choppy at sea though!

Hope you have all had a great time over the Christmas weekend.

Mevagissey

We took a stroll around Mevagissey yesterday afternoon.  It was lovely to see people out and about enjoying themselves, even a group of youngest jumping off the harbour wall, so lovely to see them out in the fresh air having fun, even if part of me thought they them mad very brave for going in the water this time of year (some in bikini's!!!!) either way, much better than being stuck behind a screen or on a corner somewhere.

And of course a telephone box find :)

Bon Voyage

Mick and I are off to France early in the morning for the week.  Visiting a couple of family war graves, the Canadian war memorial and the landing beaches.  So looking forward to it.  The girls have gone to Paris for the week, first time away on their own without us!!! Scary - for us, not them.  So thought I would leave you with a favourite I took at Mevagissey a few weeks ago.  Not really sure why I like it so much, but I do.

Hope you all have a good week. x

Photo a week

This week we were hoping to capture some colour in our photos - and if the weather where you are has been anything like it has here then we have been tested.  Louise has been creative and not only got colour but action as well - have a look here . Having been on half term this week I have had fun getting out and about with my trusted friend - my camera - must give it a nickname - any suggestions? - I digress - anyway on Thursday Bernadette and I went to Looe as she needed photos for her art work, so off we went and it was a lovely day a good old trip down memory lane for both of us -(we use to live just outside Looe when we first came to Cornwall), strolling along by the fish market it still looked the same though we didn't see Nelson the one eyed seal - not sure if he is still alive or not!  The half term holiday makers wrapped up to keep warm, the children hanging over the harbour wall crabbing - (done that a few hundred times), the families on the beach building sandcastles.  Funny how I thought Looe was looking alittle tired but I know in a couple of months time it will be full steam ahead and the place will be looking good and ready to welcome all the holiday makers for another year.  So did I manage to find any colour in Looe - well thanks to holiday town traders I did and here they are.  The sight even made me feel alittle summery and looking forward to some sunshine.

Today Mick and I went for a stroll around Mevagissey - once again in search of pictures for Bernadette's art work (she was lying in bed full of flu!!)  so as you can imagine it was a real hardship for me to do this for her .... but I did.  Love Mevagissey and the sun shone for all of five minutes at half hourly intervals so I did manage this image as well.
Some buoys tied up on one of the boats, though Mick has just informed me they are also known as 'buffs' if you are in the know!!!

Oh dear......

...another month has passed and I haven't put a single photo on here - no good excuses so I shan't make any. So here is one I took in Mevvagissey on a Scrapbooking weekend organised by Linda Knight who runs Justscrapbooking Weekend Retreats ( http://www.justscrapbooking.co.uk/ ) the photo was taken during the photography workshop which is part of the weekend. The weekends are great fun and good quality scrapping time with great classes.
