Day 3 - Bike Trip

Not many photos from Day 3 as most of the day was spent on the bike travelling, we had a lot of miles to cover this day and we did find ourselves on toll roads which are so boring for both of us, so I have added a few from day 4!  We had a have a few stops just to stretch the legs and straighten the old hip out.  Our destination was Ponticosa.  This is a small village at the bottom on the Pyrenees and is used during the sking season, it is absolutely lovely here but very obviously geared for skiers.

This stream runs through the village, can't say I have seen a rose growing in a stream before must have a had life when the snow melts!

The next few are from Day 4, the Pyrennes National Park - absolutely beautiful, I would love to go back and walk up there, must be an amazing view from the top!

I /we don't do selfies but made a point of trying whilst away. It was rather windy this morning and the sun in my eyes hence I have two slits in place of eyes!! Hey ho lol it had to be done!

I wanted a field of sunflowers but the most stunning fields were in places where we couldn't stop - so I settled for this one!

In the evening we went into Bergerac for some food and a look around. I have come across this before in France where suddenly from no where some one appears with some music and starts playing and before you know it people start dancing in the street and have a amazing time, I so wish I could dance and join in. It is all so very social and then at the end of the evening they all say goodbye and disappear! Like a dream.

I really like the second shot, though it was purely down to not s
Checking camera settings and too much vino lol.

I will show some more of day 4 in the next post, which I will warn you now will be photo heavy and not everyone's cup of tea!

Day 2 - Bike Trip.

Not too many photos today.  The first was taken in a place called Riano, still in the Picos mountains. Fancy having that as your back drop for your allotment!!

This I believe is a Bearded Vulture, this is one of two that flew off a nest that was up a rock face.  It took me a little while to realise there was a chick in the nest.

Not a very good photo due to noise and he was in the shade, but very happy I got it and saw him/her!

Lucky Snapping Quote and France

Over on Lucky Snapping this week Lynne has given us this quote to play with.

“Life is like a camera.
Just focus on what’s important,
Capture the good times,
Develop from the negatives
And if things don’t turn out
- Take another shot”
               ~ Anonymous

Have to say it is a quote I like and find inspiration from. So Lynne wanted us to get out there and get snapping, handy for me this week as we went to France to visit a couple of family war graves.  It was a great trip and one I have wanted to do for ages, Mick wasn't too bothered but happy for any excuse to go to France but thankfully he really enjoyed it and is so glad he did it.  I found the whole experience rather moving, the grave yards are beautifully kept, some more so than others but all well maintained, but being there makes you think what it must have been like for those soldiers back then, burying their colleagues/friends day after day in horrendous conditions.  We don't know we are born today!

Our first B&B stop, so welcoming.

The middle headstone is Frederick Butfield which is Mick's father's Uncle. His grave is just inside the Belgium border in the Lijssenthoek Military - he died on the 26th September 1915 aged 21 of gun shots wounds to his right leg.

So many young men. Just a small view of the graveyard.

Will show you more of our visit later.

But for now some POTD from this week. Driving passed Stone Henge, I was rather pleased with it under the circumstances lol

Rouen Bridge.

Back home in Plymouth yesterday morning at 6.30am - we finish our trip they start theirs lol

Thanks Lynne for getting me back to blogging. xx

St Emillion

Taken on our trip to St Emillion in May this year.

Hello

I feel like I  haven't blogged for awhile - can't say I have felt like it really, I have lots to blog about but things are just happening so quickly at the mo that I don't seem to have the time to record them - if that makes sense.  France seems an age ago, family holiday is drawing closer way too quickly, half the year has gone, both girls have completed their first year at college and uni respectfully, Mick in Scotland - getting very wet home on Sat and the monitor I use for my photos is being an absolute pain, it places bright green lines around everything making it impossible to look at anything - which is very frustrating and disheartening, so first thing tomorrow I am off to invest in a new monitor.

Anyway here are a couple of pics from France.  I shall try and catch up over the weekend with all the other news.

couldn't resist these pair when I saw them :)

St Emillion

this one is from Blaye, where we went Sunday morning, would have liked to have spent more time there but unable to so looks like we shall just have to do a return trip :)!!

France here we come

Mick and I are off to France tonight with a couple of friends to meet a couple of friends! Board the ferry at 8.30pm and arrive in Roscoff Friday morning, then drive down to Saint Roman for a couple of days then back on the ferry Monday night.  Soooo looking forward to it.  Camera batteries charged, knitting packed just need to get the car through it's mot - minor detail though!!  So I thought I would leave you with some photos taken in 2008 when in France.

 Do so love the windmills.

The girls testing the outdoor pool - get the impression it was a bit chilly!!  Wonder how long this can stay here before they force me to remove it!! he he

Had to show some grapes as we are off to a vineyard on Saturday :)

Er not too sure how I ended up with two watermarks on these, sure I only put one!! Hey ho.
