26wk Photo Challenge - Water Droplets.

Oops I'm running behind on this - my excuse is having enjoyed having some time out with the family :)  and working in between.
Here are  Yvonne's, and Louise,'s water droplets.
So here are my three offering for water droplets,
First one taken at Heligan, not as sharp as I would really like it. :(
 AV mode, ss1/50, f8, ISO 200, 55mm

The next two are playing with a dripping tap in the bathroom sink (too much time on my hands obviously!!)  once again they are not as sharp as I would like them but I am struggling to understand where to actually focus but shall keep playing and see if I can improve.  Looking at the settings I think I should have used a smaller aperture.
 Manual, ss 1/200, f2.8, ISO 200, 90mm
This one is cropped in on just the drop then auto levels applied to it - just liked the effect. I think this one is my favourite.
Manual, ss 1.200, f2.8, ISO200, 90mm

For some amazing droplets images take a look here http://www.flickr.com/photos/ircincyjim/  he also shows you photos of the kit he uses to take these images - don't think I shall be going to that extent - not just yet anyway!!
Right for the next fortnight the theme is random things - so anything around the house, work whatever you fancy but something you would not normally think of photographing, ie books, ornaments, clothes anything that catches your eye.  Whilst taking these try and think about composition and the rule of thirds, try and make the ordinary look extra ordinary!!  There's a challenge now!  Most of all have fun and use the camera, and upload by the 5th March. :)

Water Play

The theme for  week two of the 52 photos was rain/water and although Cornwall had plenty of rain this week I didn't see any - having seen the devastation it has caused I'm glad I didn't.  So I had to settle for playing with water inside.  I had a white dish with water in it and poured some water from a jug into the dish whilst using the remote cable to fire the camera, then I used a small syringe to drop the water into the dish.  The difficult part was focusing the lens on the point where the water was going to drop!!  Anyway this is what I came up with.

Now if I want to be really picky these are not technically correct as the focus is soft but personally I really like it as to me it looks like a pearl on a bed of satin.  As I have mentioned before I am doing a course in photoshop (beginners) and have to confess to enjoying it.  So I had a very basic play with this image, this one is straight out of the camera nothing done to it.

This is the same image, with just a true white picked out.

and the same image again with auto levels applied to it

The affects fascinate me.  Here is the second image I chose out of the ones I took.

SOC.

Auto levels applied.  Initially the first image was my favourite, but I think this one is taking over.  I really enjoyed taking these but soon realise that I need three pairs of hands to achieve the perfect image... so more play is needed I feel.

The theme for week three is Moonlight - that is using the moon as the only source of light - but if this is not possible then an image of the moon will do.  So true to form the moon is hiding behind clouds tonight!!  Still we have a week.

Long time no post .....again

I can only say - it is very close to the end of term and it is sooooo busy - but there is light at the end of the tunnel, 8.5 working days left.... yeah.  Anyway this weekend I have MADE time to have a play with the camera.  Having photographed the flowers in the garden I then got creative with water and food colouring .... as you do.  What do you think?

I called this one the laughing dolphin - can you see it?

This one I think is a mushroom.   I can see I shall be doing some more of these, I love them.
