Toilet project progress

Well Monday seems an age ago not just a week.  Thankfully the week did improve as expected - either that or I just kept it all perspective.  My hard drive enjoyed it sleep over and came home on Tuesday all refreshed and willing to go again :)

On Thursday Lucy (photo friend) and I spent what can only be described as an enjoyable morning in Newquay going around with two of the Newquay Town Council toilet cleaners - now I know it sounds odd and not everyone's cup of tea but it was a way of getting the photos we wanted without any hassle and they have invited us back in the summer in the height of the season!!!  As you can guess they will be worse. They were all pretty clean to be honest and we had a good laugh along the way with Rob and Roger lol

So just a couple from the day - all clean I hasten to add :)

This one caused a lot of laughter as Lucy's comment was "oh even a urinal for short people!" Roger looked at her and said "yes, we call them children!"

This time it was my turn to make a fool of myself, having taken the photos inside as I was coming out I stopped to take one more, unfortunately I stopped by the electronic doors and they shut on me squashing me between them, as Lucy put it "a Karen sandwich"!!! Thankfully Lucy was too busy laughing to take a photo - phew!

The day was very cold and very windy, we did manage a couple of landscape shots as well lol

Weigh in, well I did it and I didn't put any on last week but..........then I didn't loose any either so guess that is good!! Started back on the yoga yesterday and it nearly killed me lol but I did enjoy it and remembered how good it felt to do it regularly so will attempt to stick at it.  Managed another yoga session today and feeling good though a long way to go.

September already

Last Sunday I said to myself I shall get back into blogging and do a post everyday in September, even if I just post a photo and no words........... well here we are the 9th and I have done nothing!!!  Life has been extremely hectic to say the least this summer with one thing and another happening, so much so I really can't remember everything that has happened to tell you about.  I guess the main things are - as you know Bernadette graduated and then managed to get herself a job with a law firm in Bristol, she started yesterday and so far she seems to like it, as I said to her it will be a big shock to the system, working 9-5, 5 days a week from now on, restricted holiday and the biggest crunch - being financially independent!!!!!

Amanda past her first year exams after a couple of retakes - in her words "I have had a wake up call, nearly lost my dream because I spent too much time enjoying myself and not studying" !!!  Hopefully she will remember that for the next two years lol, glad she did realise it though. She is in Bristol as well in a work placement.

Mick has just come back from ten days in Switzerland (boys and their motorbikes) had a lovely time.  So that meant I had ten days completely on my own, only one word describes it..............bliss  lol

Our toilet project made it's way into the local newspaper much to my amusement and that of others, Mick and Bernadette are still trying to come to terms with why I would want to photograph toilets!!! Since that we have been contacted by the British Toilet Association and asked to write an article about our project for the magazine, which we have done!!!

Once again we are undergoing changes at work, we won't know how they will affect us until Oct.  In the meantime I have decided to undergo some training  and shall be starting a number of training courses so that by April of next year I should have more avenues open to me.  It will be pretty hard going fitting it all in, but it has to be done - though my main worry is teaching myself to focus longer than five secs on any one subject!!!!!

Tomorrow I am off to the docs for a steroid injection in my hip, hoping it will sort out the inflammation there and I can get back to some form of exercising!!

Some photos of what I have been up to over the last few months.

A lazy day

I have had a fairly lazy day today, I went to the hairdressers first thing morning then onto Pentewan to meet up with a friend who I haven't seen for ages to have a good catch up.  We took a lovely stroll through the woods at Pentewan then onto the beach had a paddle in the sea and a cuppa at a café then back (4.6 miles approx).  We laughed over the fact that I am 12 years her senior but neither of us feel the age difference - we couldn't decide who felt young and who felt old so agreed to both be young :).  We are very different but at the same time very much alike which obviously helps the friendship to work plus we share photography as an interest and finally after a year when we first mentioned it, we managed to talk about a project we want to work on together - which you can read more about here .  Some how I think my photography is going down the old documentary road lol.

Tomorrow we are all off to Bristol for B's graduation, she has just told us that we have to be there for 8.30am!!!! which is 2 hrs earlier than we thought - minor detail I guess.  Still the important thing is she arrived back home safely after her week working in Belgium - not surprisingly she is itching to go back!!

Here are some phone photos from our walk today.
