Valentine's Day

Mick and I don't really do Valentine's Day, so no roses, chocs or cards in this house this weekend, but we did acknowledge that it was 26yrs ago yesterday that we had our first kiss ..awwww!!
As B is home for the weekend we started the day off at Griggs for breakfast and they now see why I like it there so much, even Mick said he was full.  It really does fill you up for the day, none of us thought about food until tea time when it was mussel time :) (see previous post).  So after Griggs B and I went over to Pine Lodge gardens for a mooch around and some photos, then onto the garden centre for some plants for us both.  So lovely that she is into gardening as well :)

In the afternoon the three of us went for a walk around the Nare and some chill time.

As I am now posting this today Monday, I will do an update on the weight situation!!!  Basically last weekend I bought myself some new scales - big mistake as they proved to me the old ones were seriously out :(  - which if I am honest did not come as a big surprise as in my heart I knew I was heavier than they said!!  Anyway it was what I needed, so I have been good with portion size and no bread (which was not so easy) and the result is this morning I am now 3lb lighter :) (jumping for joy) and I actually feel it. (my stomach thinks my throat has been cut all week, sure it will get use to the feeling by the end of this week!!) These scales also give BMI and Fat/water content. So looks like the trying harder does pay off after all. lol

A week to forget.

A week of ups and downs and sorting things out, with some christmas shopping thrown in for good measure. The news that Amanda will have to have her knee operated on in the new year - most likely the week of her birthday,  one deceased laptop, one deceased phone and the shambles of an evening that the school called their GCSE presentation evening brought our week to a close last night - one I'm not too sorry to put behind us.  So our new week started today afresh and so far on a better note - the way it will continue :)

So a photo for the sake of a photo taken at Pine Lodge ( a local garden) this tree is in the Winter Garden, I have no idea what it is but I just love the colour of the berries against the dark sky.

A Mallard ...

In the absence of any catch up weekly photos here is one I have just printed off for the exhibiton at Pine Lodge that is due to start on the 1st August.  Personally I just love the colours, plus it reminds me of warmer days not so long ago.  It is horrid today wet, windy and cold - but hey I live in Cornwall so what else should I expect??

Weekly photo - shadows

Here I am a day late - basically I just ran out of time yesterday - or maybe I was just trying to fit too much into a 24hr slot!!  Anyway shadows was last week's theme and I have really enjoyed looking for them even if I haven't photographed all of them, but I can see it is a theme I shall carry on with.  So here are my offerings, they vary from patterns on the ground like the two below....

to obvious shadows with the cause of them being shown as well......

to an unflattering shadow of me - that is a shoulder bag sticking out of my back!!

to Amanda playing around as usual during an evening stroll on the beach to collect seaweed for work

Kathi joined us this week as well, her photos can be see here

Weekly photo

I'm posting this early as Mick is home today so I probably won't get another chance today.

Reflections was the order for photos this week, I was going to try and be creative with this one but as the week started to unfold the creative ideas didn't materialise - still they are in my mind to try at a later date. The weather here has been pretty good considering it is half term and on Friday Yvonne and I went to Pine Lodge and I came away with these images,

I personally really love this one as initially I don't think it looks like a reflection and I love the colours.

Not as fond of this one, feel it is cut straight down the middle (lack of thought re composition) and it makes me feel as if it is top heavy and going to fall over!!
Loise was very inventive and has a stunning image here
Sam has joined us as well and her lovely images are here
Next week the theme is 'animals' - I should have saved my previous post image til next Sunday!! "lol"
