Late as usual 26 wk challenge.

The last challenge was to 'shoot from the hip' in other words take a photo without looking through the view finder or lcd screen.  Sounds easy enough - but it isn't. These were taken in the garden just holding the camera and shooting.  As you can see focusing is not so easy, or getting what you want in the picture!!

The next is my favourite I think

but I do like this one as well very much, even though the branch of the flower cuts the photo in half, I just really like the colours and the blurred background.
There were plenty of other shots that were all over the place. :)

Eileen did a much better job of the challenge than I did, thank you for taking part.
The next fortnight's challenge is 'light trails', you will need a tripod for this, a long shutter speed, preferable a shutter release cable (but not essential),  oh and some moving lights ( traffic!!) but most importantly pick somewhere safe to do it.  Look forward to seeing what you come up with.  Any queries shout. x

26 wk challenge - from the hip

Ok so for the next two weeks the idea is to NOT look through the view finder or screen to take your photo, you will be photographing blind so to speak.  It takes abit of getting use to, think about the angle you are holding the camera at, otherwise you could end up with all ground shots!! Upload your favourite three by the 2nd Sept...... September already where has the year gone to!! Most of all enjoy.

26wk challenge - faces

Hands up I am doing a bit of a cheat on this one as I haven't managed to do much this last fortnight with camera or faces, well certainly not what I had in mind!!  So using some that were taken early this month.  The first one was taken on holiday in the evening sun hence the warm glow to the skin.  I just love the colouring and the look on Amanda's face even though the hair is blown across most of her face!!
 AV mode, ss 1/50, f5.6, ISO 100, ex comp +1 1/3, 50mm lens.

She has a new hat so it has to be worn and photographed.  I want to revisit this pose as I know what I want in my head but it didn't quite come off first time round, too much cheek showing.
 AV mode, ss 1/400, f2.5, ISO 200, ex comp +1/3, 50mm lens.

Just a different angle.
AV mode, ss 1/400, f 2.5, ISO 200,  ex comp +2/3 50mm lens.

Thank you to Louise and Eileen who have also joined in.

Behind again

Just a very quick post to say that I haven't forgotten the challenge I am just so very behind at the mo - hopefully will post my photos from the last challenge this afternoon but in the meantime here are Louise's, thanks for taking part Louise.  The next challenge is to choose a colour and use that as your theme for your photos. Upload by the 25th June.   Have fun.

Right here are my three offerings for the challenge, I didn't really have any idea what I was going to do and hand on heart I am struggling with lack of inspiration at the moment.

All three taking with my compact, the first two are Amanda's hands doing what the do most of the time - face booking and drinking green tea.  The third is of Bernadette's hands making a friendship bracelet on the train coming back from Plymouth yesterday.  I do like the movement in the images as it shows how quick their hands move.

 Av mode, ss 1/30, f3.2, ISO 100, 50mm lens.

AV mode, ss 1/640, f7.1, ISO 100, 50mm lens.

For the current challenge we move up the body to 'hands'.
