New Photo Challenge

Fifty two weeks ago I started a photo challenge to take a photo a week based on a theme and post it each week on my blog.  The idea was to make me use my camera on a regular basis as days, weeks could go by and due to work, life etc the camera never got picked up.  My friend Louise joined me and some others have joined in on route, apart from the odd week we have managed it.  I have really enjoyed it though there were times the week was too short for the ideas I had, but hey that is life.  So now we are at the end, it was a case of do I just stop or start another one?

You guessed it, I'm starting another one, though this one is going to be a 26wk challenge, one theme every two weeks.

This challenge is open to anyone to join in, if you would like to and are happy to share your images just post a link to yours be it another blog or flickr so that others can comment.  Further details are here .
So we kick off tomorrow with 'Backyard' - go outside your front or back door and just look around for 15 mins and photograph whatever catches your eye, (you need to take a minimum of 14 images), it could be a plant, some rubbish, paint work anything.
On the 13th Nov you need to upload three images, the very first one you took, the last one and your favourite or what you feel is your best (or both if they are different).  When uploading include camera settings, and an explaination of why you took the images, what you like about your fav and best image. Then the bit everyone hates we constructively critique each others.

Look forward to seeing your images in a fortnight, have fun.

Wkly photo - weather

Definitely picked the right week to have weather as the weekly theme.  Monday started off like this ....

taken from inside the car on my way to Bodmin Gaol (I did stop the car to take it!)

Then on Friday it was like this, a beautiful very hot sunny day.
A view from the top of the Chessewring on Bodmin Moor.

Well that is the last of my  images for the 52wk photo challenge.

Memories of days gone by

Whilst in Wales we came across this old AA phone box - can't remember the last time I saw one of these, not sure if it still works as we are not AA members.  If  I'm right, once you join the AA then you were given a key and if you broke down the key would give you access to the phone inside to call for help.  I think the RAC use to do them also, well I remembe dad having an RAC key!!

Weekly photo

Well I am having to dip out big time on this one as I haven't seen any sport whatsoever this week. Though no doubt Louise will have some great rugby photos to show us here.  So instead I have opted to show you an image taken whilst we were in Wales last weekend, taken from the top of the highest Beacon - it was a very long and hard climb (for us old unfitties) but we made it and so glad we did.

It felt like we were on top of the world.

Next week's theme is weather and looking at the forecast we shall have plenty of opportunities to capture some images.  That will then be our last one, 52 weeks completed!!

Weekly photo - flash

Last week the theme was  a flash be it a built in one or external.  I opted for built in as I didn't really have any opportunities to use the external one.

This holly was in a shady patch down the side of a bridge, the silver bits were actually on the leaves and not caused by the flash.  Louise's photo is here and Sam's is here .  Sport is this week's theme hmmm!!

Sky watch Friday

Couldn't resist these beautiful clouds floating passed the window.  (sooc)

I'm back online

Well what a week, our internet connection went down Wed morning and it has taken several phone calls and eight days before they could sort it out!!!!  Was not a happy teddy.

So I am on big catch up time with various posts so here is the first of the day my new monthly photo, there is a sky in there but it was a very 'white sky day'.  September's images can be seen here
Yvonne is joining in with me on this photo journey, you can see her photos here

As you can see I have decided to go with the two this time round and the green has definitely gone.

Weekly photo - abandoned

What a surprise I'm late posting as so often is the case - thankfully I'm not alone Louise is as well :)  Sam was on the ball and her's can be seen here - love Sam's take on this.  Last week we were looking for photos to show something 'abandoned'.  Here are mine, boats on the river Fal in Truro.

Skywatch Friday

The weather here has really turned now wet and very windy.  Whilst walking around a local garden the sky really couldn't make up it's mind one minute blue/white clouds the next black and vey wet!

The photos are deliberately silhouettes but sky is as it was.

A Walk around The Nare.

Last week most of us experienced a few wonderful days of sunshine, thankfully Mick and I were able to get out for some walks, so I thought I would share them with you - just be warned this is a multi photo post - don't think I have ever done one like this before!!

Last Wednesday we set off to Nare Head on the Roseland Pennisula.

A short walk across a field brings you to the coastal path where the sheep graze on the cliff faces quite happily, not for the faint hearted I have to say.

This is the other side of the cliff face from where the sheep above is, there were sheep behind the grass on the rock in the foreground as well.!

Exhausted after a climg back up,they are use to walkers passing through their fields or the likes of me pointing a camera at them every time I see them!

The fields were littered with a variety of fungi - unfortunately my knowledge of fungi is non existence!

Once we  reached Nare Head I found my favourite rock and sat myself down to soak up the sun, the
sound of the sea and of course the views.

and if I turned round I look at Lemoria Rock in the haze.

More fungi on the way back.

The farmers making the most of the good weather as well.

Not sure why this helicopter was flying so low but I thought it would add it.

I never have much success at photographing butterflies and we were surprised to see this one out so late.  It wasn't until it flew off that I realised there were two...oops, no peace for wildlife eh?

The brambles were still full of blackberries and they tasted very good on the way back to the car.

Nearly the  last photo this is Kiberick Cove just opposite the car park.

The last photo,

I may know nothing about fungi but thankfully Mick knows a mushroom when he sees one, we picked these and came home and had fresh mushrooms and bacon butties for lunch.  The end to a wonderful morning.

The sky was amazing this morning, you can see some of the images of it in this post

If you have got this far - well done and I hope you have enjoyed a quick photo walk around Nare Head.

Wkly photo

Vehicles was this week's topic.  We seem to collect vehicles in this household, two motorbikes, three cars, one tractor and three push bikes, I felt that I could manage a photo or two this week lol.  I feel I should explain that one of the bikes was a restoration project of Mick's from years ago and lives under a sheet in the garage, as is the tractor - which also lives in the garage (small tractor).  The cars speak for themselves!!
Louise's image can be found here.  Kathi's image is here and Sam's image is here

Anyway here are my offerings.

The Prancing Moose badge on the back of the car - much classier than a prancing horse!!

The tractor has now been moved into the garage to keep warm over the winter along with the bike!!!

I did have other images of the bike but unfortunately it hasn't been out for awhile and was rather dusty hence I couldn't show them - it did encourage Mick to give it a good wash and polish today.

Next week's theme is 'abandoned' so that could be anything that you feel gives the sense of abandonment.  Here is some inspiration from flickr .

Skywatch Friday

We have been blessed with some wonderful sunny weather this last few days, so we have made the most of it and been out walking, the sky was amazing, so clear apart from some whipsy clouds and the haze made it difficult to tell where the sky ended and the sea began.  Hope you enjoy.  (all sooc)

If you look carefully in this one that little dot is actually a yatch.
