Photo a week

This week we were hoping to capture some colour in our photos - and if the weather where you are has been anything like it has here then we have been tested.  Louise has been creative and not only got colour but action as well - have a look here . Having been on half term this week I have had fun getting out and about with my trusted friend - my camera - must give it a nickname - any suggestions? - I digress - anyway on Thursday Bernadette and I went to Looe as she needed photos for her art work, so off we went and it was a lovely day a good old trip down memory lane for both of us -(we use to live just outside Looe when we first came to Cornwall), strolling along by the fish market it still looked the same though we didn't see Nelson the one eyed seal - not sure if he is still alive or not!  The half term holiday makers wrapped up to keep warm, the children hanging over the harbour wall crabbing - (done that a few hundred times), the families on the beach building sandcastles.  Funny how I thought Looe was looking alittle tired but I know in a couple of months time it will be full steam ahead and the place will be looking good and ready to welcome all the holiday makers for another year.  So did I manage to find any colour in Looe - well thanks to holiday town traders I did and here they are.  The sight even made me feel alittle summery and looking forward to some sunshine.

Today Mick and I went for a stroll around Mevagissey - once again in search of pictures for Bernadette's art work (she was lying in bed full of flu!!)  so as you can imagine it was a real hardship for me to do this for her .... but I did.  Love Mevagissey and the sun shone for all of five minutes at half hourly intervals so I did manage this image as well.
Some buoys tied up on one of the boats, though Mick has just informed me they are also known as 'buffs' if you are in the know!!!

2011 A-Z challenge on UKS

Over on UKS I am taking part in the 2011 A-Z challenge and this last fortnight the letter has been D, so being extremely un-original here are a couple of offerings - dogs,

This is Bob, a friends's puppy , he is adorable and so lively, only 19wks (if my memory serves me right). He never stopped running the whole time I was there!

This is Archie a German Pointer, I went for a lovely walk with him and his mum on Monday, he is only 3yrs and once again a real love and so obedient.
Well I had to put Sammy in -though the photo wasn't taken in the fortnight, but it was the last one I took of him, so I couldn't leave him out. An Enlish Bull Terrier in case anyone was wondering :)

February's photo

Well here is 'my backyard' photo for February, doesn't look much different to the last few months, dull, wet, and not very exciting, but I'm sure if I was to look very closely there would be plenty signs of spring out there.  It was taken around 8am yesterday, just as well as the heaven's opened not long after and stayed like that nearly all day!

It's all about colour..

...in our photo a week this week. Our theme is colour, so that could mean either choosing one colour and photographing different items of that colour, different shades of a chosen colour, maybe experimenting with colour tints, or images full of colour - though there isn't much of that outside at the mo - unless shades of grey is your chosen colour!! So this week there is a need for some creative thinking. You could even have a go at all those suggestions, choice is yours - have fun.  Here's one to get you in the mood.

Another week gone..

.. and what a hectic one it has been.  Ofsted did drop in on Tuesday un-annoucned as they do and spent the morning with us which was very pleasant even when a couple of children managed to splatter the lead inspector in shaving foam, which we all found funny - thankfully. Our outcome will be announced in 15days time from Tues.

This week Louise and I were taking photos of angles within our environment.  Here is what I came up with can you guess what the first two are? I obviously forgot we had moved on from abstracts.

These two are pictures of the graveyard wall, maybe not everyone's cup of tea but I love the curve on the wall, the stonework and the gates and how well it is maintained.

Personally I like this photo the best due to the angle I took it at.

Tulips

I always remember tulips being one of my dad's favourite flowers and I never really understood why, until the last few years and I have found myself drawn to them more and more, they really are a beautiful flower, just a shame they don't last long.

Photo a week - not!

Unfortunately my photo a week didn't happen this week, (if you read my previous post you will know why). Just have to say on the subject of Sammy, it wasn't until yesterday morning when I was taking Mick a cup of coffee that I realised how some conversations or chat had become such a routine in our life and suddenly that routine no longer existed because he wasn't there to have the conversation about!  That probably doesn't make much sense to someone reading this, but it certainly made me stop and think about all the things we do automatically throughout our day and are probably unaware of half of them until you stop doing them or saying them.
Anyway back to photo a week, Louise has done a fantastic job of capturing some leading lines in her photos .  love those black and white ones.  This week we are focusing on angles in our environment as apose to camera angles.
If anyone else reading this blog fancies joining us you are more than welcome to, just let us know so we can share them with each other.
So I am playing catch up this week, as well as a possible visit from Ofsted at work - they are in the school but haven't said if they are coming to visit us or not!!  Hope they do, then it will all be over and done with.  So with all that it should keep my mine nicely occupied!

Sad Day

Well we have been preparing ourselves all week to say goodbye to our beloved Sammy today.  The girls said their goodbyes last night and this morning, then Mick and I spent the morning with him, until the vet arrived.  It is the first time I have had to do this and don't think I will ever put myself through it again (though I guess that is what everyone says....never again).  We went out for a walk this afternoon, just to get out of the house really, seemed so strange coming back in to an empty house.  No one to greet me and stand on my toes, to head butt my shin because I haven't acknowledged him quick enough.  No one pulling the tea towel and towel off the rayburn, or knocking the cake tins off the shelf to get your attention.  I shall miss my 'little boy' so much.

Abstract

This week Louise & I  had a go at taking some abstract images, here is what I came up with.

As I look at them now I realise they are all very similar in the fact they are all lines, I shall have to another look at the others I took.
