What a lovely day.

Spent a lovely day at my friend's house Kathie, her youngest daughter very kindly agreed to my taking some photos of her so that I could practise my portrait photography as it is not an area I get much practice in.  She is a very photogenic young lady which helped me tremendously as you can see.

Thanks Kate.

I DID IT.......

... after months of thinking about it and worrying about it last night I gave my talk to Plymouth Camera Club all about me and my photos!!!!!!!  They were/are a lovely group of people who made me feel very at home which helped me to really enjoy my evening.  So a huge thank you to all of them that came and hope to see you again soon.  Half term next week so out for some serious photo taking.

What a week...

It has been none stop and very enjoyable.  Started off Monday evening going to see Calender Girls with a lovely group of friends, good food, good company and a great performance. Tuesday was my birthday meal with family, another lovely evening, more lovely food, good conversation and the bit that really blew me away was the cake that Bernadette made for me, it was a replica of my camera and it was brilliant (have to use past tense as we have eaten it all!!!)  Here are the pics.

Looking at the pics now I'm still amazed by it.  When I saw all the black food colouring and icing I did wonder what she was up to but by the time I got home Mon evening there wasn't a trace of anything (and I did look!!) never thought I was going to get this.  I was thrilled to say the least.  Thank you Bernadette.

Wed was college as usually, feel like I am getting to grips with a tiny bit of photoshop.  Thursday night out for an Indian with a another group of friends, very enjoyable again.  Two nights off then Sunday off to Birmingham to see Westlife in concert......phew, I shall need next week to recover.  Oh and in between all that it has been a hectic week at work as well!

Cornish Sunset.

Went down to Charlestown Thurs evening to take photos but the rain put a very quick end to any photo taking.  Thankfully by the time we left the pub it had stopped raining and I managed to capture this sunset on the way home.  No photoshop on this one.

Another month gone.....

...... and what has been happening.  Well Easter has come and gone, had four days in France, very nice too.  Amanda took part in her first show jumping competition and loved it.  Bernadette has started driving!!  Then back to work which takes over everything else.  I am busy preparing for a presentation I am doing on the 26th May in Plymouth, trying not to get too nervous as it is the first time I have ever done anything like this, so it is all new to me.  Talking of new things I have finally given in and had a go at Photoshop.  I have never done much with photoshop as I don't understand it and I don't have the time to sit and learn it.  Well the time has come that I have no choice but to have a go, so this afternoon (as I have been sitting due to a bad back) I thought it was about time I made an effort, plus if I don't make the effort my tutor at college is going to give up on me - I can feel the vibes Paula :)!  So I have been busy cropping and playing with levels and filters/textures and here is one that I rather like, it is of Perranporth. it has had a textured filter put on it.  In case anyone wonders what the misty bit is in the middle it is just that spray off the waves, it was a slightly windy day.

Here is another one of Perraporth but it has had a Charcoal filter put on it, can't really decide if I like  this or not.  I have to admit it is amazing what photoshop can do and I have only tickled the edges.

Another month gone by.....

and what have I been doing.  Well, there has been the Easter break, a four day trip to France. Amanda took part in her first show jumping competition and loved it.  Bernadette is learning to drive!!  Then it was back to work - which tends to take over.  I am frantically preparing for a presentation I am doing on the 26th May in Plymouth - trying not to get too nervous as I have never done anything like this before so it is all new ground for me.

I have finally given in and had a serious look at photoshop, I don't tend to use it as I don't understand it and don't have the time to sit and learn it.  Well the time has come where I have no choice, so I have been having a play today with different crops and filters/textures
