The other week a lady came to camera club to give a talk about her work as an art teacher, the way she uses photography and how the subjects cross over and interact. During her talk she told us how she had started taking a photo of a tree at Derriford hosp each month to see the changes. She now swaps that photo with a research worker in the artic. I really liked this idea and fancied having a go. So a quick email to my cousin's daughter in Australia and we are set up to do a photo a month of our chosen place for a year starting this month. It would appear we are both as bad as each other in trying to decide on a location, I have chosen many and photographed them - then at the final hour as I was about to click send with the first photo I changed my mind again and settled for the view that greets me every morning and one that I see the changes but don't appreciate them fully. So here is my first of twelve images of my chosen view - My back yard!
It wasn't the best morning and it is sooc as that is what I want for this project - just as it is/was at the time of taking. The picture below is the same scene (slightly different angle) taken a couple of hours earlier before I changed my mind!!

Tomorrow is another day.
Sitting here at 11.30pm at night waiting for the clock to tick away another 90mins before I venture out to pick up our eldest daughter from a friends house after her first UV party (don't ask!!) at a night club. Thankfully the said friends father is picking them up from the night club and bringing her half way home. Guess I should be very thankful that we have had 17.5 yrs before the first early hours pick up and I am, I just know I shall suffer tomorrow. Anyway whilst sitting here I am sorting through photos and found our holiday snaps. So I thought I would share an early morning image I took in Bulgaria - yes I got up at 6am to get sunrise pics!!! How sad eh?
Just looking at it brings back lovely warm memories.

Half term is here ..... yeah!
Yep half term has arrived which means a whole week off. Time to recharge the batteries and have some me time ....... sounds very selfish I know but sometimes a girl needs to be selfish. So I have spent most of the day learning how to use my camera all over again and in the process taken some real rubbish photos - but who cares I have enjoyed it and that is what it is all about. I had a play last night as well using long exposure and a torch on some conkers - here is the result.
Also last night I had another go at some moonlight photos with the camera on the bulb setting. On the camera the pics looked good but not so on the computer - needed abit longer exposure, I have slightly lightened one in photoshop to show you but it really isn't that good. I was going to repeat it tonight but the moon isn't playing!
I just love the way the clouds come out with long exposures, roll on the next full moon.

Results of 'Children v's Animals'
Following on from my last post re photgraphing children. I have scrutinised the images I took and if I am honest I am not that happy with them, I feel they are alittle soft around the edges - (technical term for out of focus in the important parts) - some people like that but I would of preferred them to be sharp. I was reasonably happy with the 'feet' images I wanted of the baby and here is one that I have converted to B&W with my new found photoshop skills. What do you think??
